Trip to Burfjord with Moonlight Skis
We took a trip up to Burfjord Norway, in the Spring of 2018 to meet up with the Moonlight team, and check out these awesome skis. When I picked up the ski for the first time, I almost hit myself, as they were so light. Having 106mm underfoot, and only weight 1.1kg, is quite an achievement. Not only are they light, but the skis also have a surprising amount of stiffness to allow for stability in variable conditions.
We went over to Jøkelfjord, to give these bad boys a test ride. On the walk up, I only felt the weight of my boots, the skis, were just there, almost pulling me up the mountain. Once we reached the summit it was time to see how they skied. Because of the late spring snowpack, we were going to really put them to the test. At the top the snow was soft corn, the middle got a bit crusty, and the bottom was heavy and wet slush. Overall the skis performed extremely well, and was quite surprised. At the bottom in the heavy snow, it was a bit harder to ski, because they were so light. However, it could have also just been my not driving the skis hard enough. All in all, I would highly recommend these skis They are a great option for long approaches, and not compromising the descent.
